Hi! My name is Ricardo, and now I'm goingo to describe my school.

My school is a public school and has got six buildings. One is for the sports, four are for classes and one is for the teachers and the others important people.

In the first building, there is the library, the conference room, the teachers' coffee room, the director's office and more sevices.

In the second building we have the canteen and rooms for classes. In the third and fourth buildings there are more classrooms. In the fifth building we have rooms for classes, the pupils' bar and the radio station. The name of the radio is “Radio Horizonte”.

I like my school because I lean, of course, and speak with my friends and it is fun to me.

I like my school!

City or countryside

Ricardo prefers living in the countryside. Read on to find out his reasons.

Hi, my name is Ricardo and I'm going to talk about life in the countryside and the city.

In my opinion I prefer living in the countryside because is more calm, it doesn't have too much people (it is not crowded) and there is no pollution.

I feel it is more important to live in the city, but there is too much stress, it's noisy, it is not quiet, just too many people.

I think it is easier to live in the countryside, because there aren't many streets or cars. Shopping, going to the doctor or to the airport are the reasons I go to the city.

I like the countryside because it is more beautiful than the city.

My favourite game

Adriana loves playing SIMS 2, but she does not forget her school tasks.
photo copyright

Hi! How are you?
I’m fine, I guess...

In this text I will tell you some things about my favourite game… Well, it is a computer game. Guess What! It’s SIMS 2!

I just have one version, but I have an older friend that has installed some other versions of this game in my PC.

No, I’m not addicted to this game. My godmother gave me this game last year, in my birthday. I just play it on holidays, and I rarelly do remember to play it.

I think that this game is fun because even if you’re a child, you have to take care of parents and children and manage all their money. There are responsibilities, but they make us laugh and have a great time.

When I play it, I just play it for one and a half hour, because you can’t “be in front of PC all the day”!

I think that it’s OK to play games, but you can’t take time from school to just play them!

My favourite room

Adriana likes her bedroom because there are all her things in there, and that’s the room where she can dream without being disturbed by others.
photo copyright

Here I am, once again.

Now I’m going to talk about my favourite room... And guess what? It’s my bedroom... or my and my sister’s bedroom!

Yes, I share my bedroom with her. Sometimes it’s difficult, but we know that there’s isn’t other chance.

My bedroom is upstairs, and it is between my parents' bedroom and my mom’s study. It’s also in front of the living room.

To me and to my sister, our bedroom is small. It’s rectangular and there are tapestries on the walls, a computer and a desk. There’s a big window and just one door.

I like my bedroom because there are all my things in there, and that’s the room where I can dream without being disturbed by others, and where I can write my diary.

It’s very cool, and I love it!

My home

Adriana is right: more than a (big) house you need a home.
photo copyright

Hi! My house is at Arco da Calheta. I have a detached house, in Rua dos Palheiros, and it’s very simple: it’s not a big house.

Downstairs there is the garage, where my parents’ cars stay. Upstairs there is a kitchen, a study, two bedrooms and a living room. On top there is the attic, where my old toys are.

My kitchen has three colours: orange, white and yellow. All the other rooms are white. I share my bedroom with my sister, but sometimes it’s not easy, because each one of us needs her space. But my favourite room is my bedroom.

I don’t have a big garden and I don’t have a swimming pool. I think you don’t need to have a big house to feel good… you just have to like your home. And I like mine!:D

My home

Ana lives in a white and gray detached house.

I live in a medium size detached house, in Arco da Calheta, in a very quiet place.

I have a long garden and my house is white and grey. My favourite spot is the attic because there is the computer, a little living room and it's very comfortable there.

There are two kitchens, a living room, a dining-room, two bedrroms, one bathroom, two storerooms, a well, a place to put wood and a hall.

It's a comfortable house.

My home

In the livng room there a TV set, says André.

Hello! I will tell you about my home.

Jimmy Carr's favourite room

Rosanna Greenstreet interviews the comedian Jimmy Carr about his bedroom.

My favourite room is my bedroom. I enjoy sleep, as all comedians do. We work about 20minutes of the day, we've got to do something with the rest of the time and sleep eats up a good proportion.

The brilliant thing about my bedroom is the fact that it's my office as well. When I had a proper job, my commute used to be an hour and a half each way; now I've got it down to less than three seconds. And that includes putting a dressing gown on.

There's a bookshelf full of distractions. I tend not to read fiction, but I've got a lot of reference books. If you are sitting in front of a blank page, you can always go and look up some fact and write a joke around that. I also have biographies of comics.

The walls in my bedroom are terracotta, which makes the room look a bit Spanish, and I've got sea grass on the floor, so I've now got very hard feet. I have a big pine monstrosity of a bed, which I inherited from my mother. That sounds vaguely oedipal; I assure you it isn't - it's just a nice, comfy bed. I also have a big desk. I mistakenly bought a computer from a friend who knows something about computers. So I've got an enormous thing that could probably bring down Western civilisation, but I only use it to word-process on. I've got Surround Sound for the computer - when I switch on, it has been known to genuinely scare me.

The most exciting thing about my bedroom is that I first made love to my girlfriend here, and it's where I fell in love. Her name is Karoline with a K - she's Canadian. The spelling held me back from falling in love for a while.

The worst thing that's ever happened in my bedroom is insomnia. I went through a patch of not being able to get to sleep and I had a TV in the room at the time. There's a huge temptation to stay up and say 'I'd better watch some wrestling until four.' So now I refuse to have a telly in my room. I am hugely fond of my battered old Roberts radio, though. I think I'm hitting middle age - I'm keen on Five Live and listen to an awful lot of Radio Four.

NOTE:
Christine's favourite room HERE (with pictures).

My favourite room [example]

You can read & listen to the text HERE.

My house is quite large. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a study, a living room, a dining room, a special games room and a big front and back garden.

My favourite room is my bedroom. I love it because it is the only room in my house where I can lock myself away from the rest of the world. After a long hard day, all I want to do is go up to my cosy bedroom and either listen to some mellow music, or lie down, unwind and watch a bit of T.V or maybe even a relaxing film. This room is very special to me because I have inhabited it for over fifteen years. It is a part of me. It is full of my personal possessions and it has been decorated with my fair hands.

So what does this special room look like? Well, it's quite big, but not huge. It's big enough to hold a double bed, which leans against the back wall of the room. There is a sofa bed, which leans against the left wall in the room. In front of the bed there is a dressing table with a large mirror. This is the place where I sit every morning and dry my hair and put on my make-up. Either side of the dressing table there are two wardrobes.

The wardrobe on the right is the one I use daily, the one on the left is full of disused toys, games, clothes and books. A bit messy! My television and video recorder are on a shelf above the dressing table. Also on this shelf, there is a selection of my favourite videos: Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, and Austin Powers. On the left hand side of my bed, to the left of the door, there is a chest of draws and on top of the chest I have my stereo. Scattered around the room. I have photos of my friends and family. These photos bring back memories of happy times spent.

Hi, my name is Ricardo and my best friend is João Pedro.

João Pedro is intelligent, responds to almost everything that teachers ask, but above all he is a good friend.

We were the finest students in our class, and I was in the second place. He had better class notes than me. In the past he used to be better than me.

He wears glasses, has got brown hair and he is very organised. This is my best friend!
