My Easter holidays

Calvin went to church and saw films about Jesus' life on Easter holidays.

Hi! I loved my Easter Holidays!
I did lots of things:

I went to the beach;
I had a barbeque with my parents in Paúl da Serra;
I played with my friends;
I played computer games;
And had fun.

I also stayed at home doing nothing on the holy week. I went to church only on Good Friday and on Easter Sunday.

On Good Friday, I saw some films about Jesus’ life. I liked seeing it! On Easter Sunday morning my family and I ate “Hot Cross Buns”, they were delicious! We went to church and then we went for a walk.

I hope your Easter Holidays were as great as mine!

My carnival holidays

Calvin dressed up as a "vilhão".

I enjoyed my Carnival holidays:

I went to see the “trapalhão” parade in Funchal;

I studied a lot for all my subjects;

I dressed up, this Carnival, as a folk guy (vilhão) with my friends. We had a lot of fun!

Last weekend

Calvin watched movies last weekend.

Hi there!

I didn’t do anything special this weekend.

Saturday morning, I woke up, got dressed, made my bed, had breakfast and cleaned my room.

After 10:00 a.m., I started doing my homework and study. I had lunch and continued studying.

Just before 17:00 p.m., I got dressed and went to catechism. I came home, had a shower and saw some films. A bit later, I had dinner and went to bed.

On Sunday, I got dressed and went to church. After church my family and I had a long and quiet lunch. While my parents were cleaning the house, I started to practise my clarinet. Then we went for a drive and had dinner in a little restaurant.

We came home and I had a shower. I packed my bag for Monday and watched TV until bedtime and went to bed.

I enjoyed telling what I did this weekend and I hope everyone’s weekend was great!

Living in the city or in the countryside?

Calvin loves both the city and the countryside for different reasons.

Both the city and the countryside have their advantages and their disvantages.

When I lived in the city I liked living there as there are more people, cinamas, big shopping centres…

But when I moved here to Madeira, I started to love the Nature of the countryside: the fresh air, sociable people and the scenic views. I love this calm and pleasant life.

I still like everything the city has to offer; the crowded and busy streets, lots of constructions and most important are the chances of getting a good and a stable job.

I will grow up here in the countryside because it is safe but later when I go study I would like to live in the city, maybe in London or Lisbon.

Only time will tell!

My favourite room

Calvin's room is all blue.Bold

Hi, there!

I’m going to describe my favorite room, my bedroom. My bedroom isn’t very big nor small; it is a medium sized room. It is between the kitchen and the staircase. I don’t have a lot of privacy because I share it with my two cousins. But we have a great time together.

My bedroom is all blue; there is my bed in the right corner of the room, beside it there is my bedside table and on it there is a lamp. Above my bed there is a big poster of my favorite music band. On the opposite side of it there is my chest of drawers. Next to my bed there is a bunk bed, which is where my cousins sleep in. Between the bunk bed and my wardrobe there is a long blue rug.

I love my bedroom, it's very comfortable.

Hope your favorite room is as good and comfortable as mine.

From your friend…

My grandfather

It is lovely to hang out with one's grandparents.

My Grandfather is very cool! He is very tall and thin and has got short grey hair.

My Grandfather is intelligent, just like me. He worked his whole life in a small supermarket near the city, but now he is retired and lives in a lovely house in the city. I love going there.

My Grandfather has got a dog called Bobby. It is very entertaining, always playing with me and keeping company to my Grandfather.

My Grandfather always takes me to the park and then we go to a pizza restaurant. We enjoy ourselves a lot.

I love my Grandfather!

I’m Calvin Gonçalves and I am from Calheta, Madeira. I am 13 years old. I am in the 7grade and I attend Escola B+S da Calheta.

I live in Calheta, it isn’t a city but I like it. The weather is lovely and I’m fond of its sights.

I live with my Mom, my Dad, my Brother, my Sister and my Grandmother. I love living with them.

I’m intelligent and talented. I’m not well-known at school. My hobies are swimming and watching TV.

I would like to rock climb, skiing, surfing.
